Dr Taillefer received a BA in English Philology at Málaga University in Spain and a MA in Translation at Madrid University (Complutense). She continued her studies in the US at the City University of New York, where she obtained a MA in Liberal Arts. In 1995 she gained her PhD degree at Madrid University (Complutense).
Her teaching, the PhD Dissertations she has supervised and her publications —included in outstanding international bibliographic databases— are on various Applied Linguistics domains such as English Language Teaching, Psycholinguistics, Sociolinguistics and Translation. Head of the research group ‘Applied Linguistics and Languages,’ she has also coordinated various Innovative Educational studies such as a ‘Teaching Project for the Use of Multimedia,’ a ‘Project on a Multilingual Linguistics Glossary’ and a ‘Skype Practicum.’
She is currently convenor for a ‘Research Network on Academic Writing in English as a Foreign Language’ in the International Association of Applied Linguistics. Dr Taillefer also has designed online English for Specific Purposes courses and an Open Course Ware on ‘English Applied Linguistics’ for Creative Commons. She has collaborated with universities in the United Kingdom (Exeter, Surrey, Huddersfield, etc.) and the United States (Harvard University, University of Pennsylvania at Philadelphia, University of California at Berkeley, etc.), both as visiting scholar and researcher.
