Lucy Pickering is Associate Professor of Applied Linguistics and Director of the Applied Linguistics Laboratory at Texas A&M University-Commerce in the United States. She has previously taught as faculty at the University of Alabama, Georgetown University and Georgia State University. Her research program is focused on discourse analysis and L2 learning with an emphasis on prosodic development. She has been published in a wide range of journals including TESOL Quarterly, Modern Language Journal, Discourse Processes, Discourse Studies, Annual Review of Cognitive Linguistics, Pragmatics & Cognition, Intercultural Pragmatics, English for Specific Purposes, Journal of Pidgin & Creole Languages, System, World Englishes and English Language Teaching. In addition she has a number of book chapters published by John Benjamins, Routledge, Springer-Verlag, & Michigan University Press. She is also co-author of a textbook for international teaching assistants published by Waveland Press. She has served on the editorial board of TESOL Quarterly and currently serves on the board of the Journal of Second Language Pronunciation (John Benjamins). She is currently on the Executive Committee of the American Association of Applied Linguistics (AAAL).
