José M. Prieto (Madrid, 1949) is a Senior Professor in the area of Personnel, Work and Organizational Psychology at the Complutense University of Madrid, leading a double life for decades in what concerns his publications. In English the main focus is the area of human resources assessment and training, for instance, IAAP handbook of Applied Psychology (2011, Wiley & Blackwell, co-editor), Ethical/deontological issues in Work and Organizational Psychology in The Oxford Handbook of International Psychological Ethics (2012, OUP, M. Learch et al), David C. McClelland in Encyclopedia of the history of psychological theories (2012, Springer, R.W. Rieber), Psychotherapy in Spain: rapid growth and the vicissitudes of clinical psychology in Handbook of counselling and psychotherapy in an international context (2012, Routledge, R. Moodley et alii). Current situation of undergraduate and postgraduate education in psychotherapy for psychologists in Spain in Teaching Psychology around the world (2012, Cambridge Scholars Pub, S. McCarthy et al), Music perception in The Encyclopedia of Cross Cultural Psychology (2013, Wiley, K.D. Keith). Within the framework of the Psychology of Religion and the Institute of Religious Studies at the Complutense University, he has published the books Penetrating Compassion: 50 contemporary koan (2007), The sutra of Golden Eternity, Buddhism versus Catholicism in Jack Kerouac (2012), The mystic Zen poetry of Eihei Dogen (2013) all three in Spanish (Miraguano Ediciones). He has also published six books of poetry, Haiku on the hour (2007), Tanka huffing and puffing up (2009), Jesus never ever was a Christian (2010), Never ever poets are blind, the Korean sijo (2012), Our Lady is a Knight (2013), Stork horns (2014) all in Spanish (Vitruvio Ediciones). Sense of humor, irony, lyricism, eureka effects and epiphany prevail in these poems. He was Secretary General (1998-2006) and Communication Officer (2006-2014) of the International Association of Applied Psychology, NGO of UN and UNESCO – International Social Science Council. He was also the Head of the Department of Individual Difference and Work Psychology (2006-2010).
